YSGOL SY'N PARCHU HAWLIAU / A RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL

Rydym yn falch iawn i fod yn Ysgol sy'n Parchu Hawliau Plant / We are very proud to be a Rights Respecting School

Mae'r Comisiynydd Plant Cymru yma i sicrhau bod holl blant a phobl ifanc Cymru yn dod i wybod am eu hawliau. Mae'r hawliau hyn yn bethau sydd angen ar blant a phobl ifanc i fod yn ddiogel, yn iach ac yn hapus. Mae gan y Cenhedloedd Unedig restr o'r holl hawliau sydd gan blant. Enw'r rhestr hon yw Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau'r Plentyn, neu CCUHP yn fyr.

The Children's Commissioner for Wales is there to make sure that all children and young people in Wales find out about their rights. These rights are the things that children need to be safe, healthy and happy. The United Nations has a list of all the rights that children have. The list is called the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCRC for short.

As Super Ambassadors, we have three jobs. These are to:

  • Inform other pupils in their school about the Commissioner and her powers.
  • Make sure other pupils know about children’s rights under the UNCRC.
  • Do special missions for the Commissioner in our school.

The school’s special mission during the spring and summer term, was to think about how we could support families in the cost of living crisis.  A second hand school uniform shop has been set up for families of Parcyrhun, and has been very successful.  Hopefully, this is helping many families through difficult financial times.

  • We have been busy this term collecting information from every class on the six most important Right’s for their class.  Following this, we worked together to choose a Right for every month.  We have linked these Rights to events on the Calendar, for example, ‘Children in Need’ and ‘St David’s day’.  The twelve Rights that are the most popular in the school will be displayed at the start of every month on a new leaf,  which we will be adding to our display in the main school hall.  By the end of the academic year, we will have a fully bloomed Rights Respecting tree.

Right of the month for December is:

Article 2:

All children have these rights no matter what!  All Children should be treated equally.
