Y Siarter Iaith
Criw Cymraeg - 2024/25
The government aims to get 1 million Welsh speakers in Wales by 2050 and we share their aim! The whole nation must be on board to achieve this goal, be they fluent speakers, speakers who lack confidence or Welsh learners.
Our aim as a school is that every pupil will choose to and be able to speak Welsh in every aspect of their lives and they will be proud of their language, their heritage and their Welsh traditions. We wish for you as parents to join us in our battle to keep the Welsh language alive.
Criw Cymry Cŵl Targets
-
Y Siarter Iaith (Criw Cymraeg)
Our aims for this term are:
· To get the Criw Cymraeg from last year to help guide the new Criw Cymraeg into their roles and help understand what the purpose of the Criw Cymraeg is.
· To ask the new Criw Cymraeg if they have any new ideas how to promote the Welsh Language throughout the school.
· Re Introduce patrwm / geirfa’r bythefnos, idiom y bythefnos (language pattern / vocabulary and idiom of the fortnight) and learn about the artist cerddorol and bardd/awdur y mis as a class.
· Pupils to listen to music by Welsh artists in class and during playtime on the iard.
· Create a timetable of Welsh songs to sing at the end of playtimes in the circles.
· Celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae by creating a video of each class saying ‘Shwmae’ and sharing with parents on ‘X’. To take part in different classroom activities.
· To regain partnership with ysgol Tycroes, Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain and other local schools in the area to hold different activities.
· Arrange gemau buarth sessions with Menter Bro Dinefwr for each class.
· Criw Cymraeg to help staff reward pupils by listening out for the children that speak Welsh in class and on the yard. To keep track of this by using a class chart, giving stickers and a certificate to the pupil with the most points in assembly on Thursday.
· Have the whole school to learn the song ‘Mae Siarad Cymraeg fel Magic.’
· To learn Welsh hymns in assembly and for the Christmas concert.
· To re-introduce Dwynwen y ddraig for children to take home over the weekend.
· To share different websites/apps with parents that will help them and their children with the Welsh language.
