Qualified Teacher of the Deaf: Mrs Natasha Jones
Inclusion
All pupils from the Hearing Impaired Resource Base attend inclusion opportunities with their mainstream peers. The days and times for are carefully planned for to suit the individual needs of each pupil.
All pupils in the HIRB take part in Physical Education with their mainstream peers. PE kit will be required on the days that each year group has PE.
There will be more information shared with you regarding inclusion opportunities and PE for your child at the start of the Autumn term.
Reading books
Pupils attending the Hearing Impaired Resource Base will need to bring their reading books to school every day. Parents are encouraged to read with their child at home and comment in their record book. In the HIRB, we follow the Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme, and alongside this we use Deaf Phonics and Visual Phonics to support and extend their skills.
Homework
Foundation Phase
Homework will be set for pupils on a Friday and should return it by the following Wednesday.
Key stage 2
Literacy homework will be set on a Tuesday and expected to be returned to school by Friday. Numeracy homework will be set on a Friday and should be returned by the following Tuesday.
Security/Sickness
For any pupil arriving late or being picked up early from school, you will need to go to the main Reception. We also ask that if your child is off sick from school, that you telephone the main reception number to inform us.
Home/school contact books
As many pupils come to school and go home in transport arranged by the county, it is important that we can keep in touch. A home/school contact books allows us to communicate any messages from parents and Teachers as well as dates for the diary.
Healthy Snacks
At Parcyrhun we encourage all pupils to bring a healthy snack to school.
The Foundation Phase pupils get free milk every day after morning break time. If you would like your child to have a piece of fruit at this time, then we kindly ask that you send something to school with them in the morning.
